Nestled in the conservation area of Cairnhill Road, the owner envisaged a house that is contemporary, simple and clean yet keeping the Peranakan heritage underlining the origin of the house. The concept of “East meet West” was clearly illustrated throughout the house by the use of modern lightings, furniture and fittings complimented with artworks and art décor that are Asian inspired. Chinese Ming chairs, Dutch colonial sideboard and oriental inspired sliding doors dividing the dinning and kitchen were sprayed in white. The result is a simple yet substantial visual impact inspired by Asian culture and lifestyle. The kitchen is modern and spacious and designed with functionality in mind. The courtyard in the middle of the house was converted into a water feature with koi fishes and a lap pool on the roof top incorporate the element of the outdoors and tropical living into the habitat.
